The University of Zakho Celebrated Its 8th Annual Graduation Commencement

On Sunday, October 14, 2018, at 4:00 pm, the University of Zakho held its 8th annual commencement ceremony in the presence of Dr. Yousef Goran –Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel-President of the University of Zakho, vices of the president, deans of colleges and faculties, members of Iraq and Kurdistan parliament, a number of government institutes, professors, and family of the students. The ceremony was held at Zakho International Stadium. At the beginning of the ceremony, the attendees stood a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs of Kurdistan then students entered the stadium and walked on the red carpet with the anthem of the University being played.
The speech of the ceremony was delivered by Professor Dr.Abdul-Wehab Kh. Musa-Vice President of the University for Students Affairs. He warmly welcomed the guests, congratulated students and pointed out the role of the university in the development of science. Then the speech of the presidency of the University of Zakho was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Lazgin A. Jameel. He congratulated the students, encouraged them to serve their country, and outpointed the significant of the university in the progress that Kurdistan region id witnessing.
After that, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Yousef Goran expressed his heartfelt congratulations, shed light on the role of graduates, hoped them a bright future ahead, and then talked about the new systems being used at the University of Zakho.
It is worth mentioning that a speech was delivered by Mr. Ashti Hakim-Representative of Students. He congratulated the students, asked the government to provide job opportunities for students to practice their skills. He also talked about his four years at the university, the role of professors and staff of the university, and the process of students admission for the academic year 2018-2019. It is worthwhile to note that the number of students graduated this year is (1028).
